Walled Lake is a smaller suburb of Southwest Oakland County. Coming in with a population of only 7000, the city covers 2.37 square miles, with .19 of that being water. The major body of water located within the city being Walled Lake itself, with a few smaller lakes/ponds scattered about. Walled Lake is bordered on the North by Commerce Township, on the East by West Bloomfield, On the South by Novi, and on the West by Wixom.  In recent years Walled Lake has gained more popularity from patrons around Oakland County with events hosted at the Beach Front restaurant Bayside, a downtown outlet mall / flea market in the summer, and several other seasonal events. Historically, Walled Lake is also significant, being former home to stops for the underground railroad & Michigan’s Walled Lake Amusement Park.

Walled lake has its own Police & Fire located downtown, in the same plaza with the Walled Lake city offices & Walled Lake Library. The Police Department employs 19 sworn officers as well as 12 auxiliary Officers. Their fully staffed fire department, located adjacent to the police department, is centrally located and able to respond to the needs of the city, no matter how big or small. Several community events are held at the city offices including fire prevention and family safety, holiday events, and of course the Summer Farmers Market.
