Bloomfield Township, Michigan is located in southeast Oakland County and is home to over 40,000 Michigan residents. Not to be confused with its smaller counter part Bloomfield Hills, the township covers 26 square miles and completely surround the city of Bloomfield Hills. All though located at the east end of the “Lakes Area”, you can still find waterfront property in Bloomfield Township. Approximately 4% of the township is water, consisting of smaller lakes such as Turtle Lake, Chalmers Lake, and Wabeek, as well as some larger all sports lakes like Long Lake & Square Lake. Bloomfield Township Schools
Most Bloomfield Twp students attend the Bloomfield Hills School District which serves students from Bloomfield Twp & Bloomfield Hills as well as small parts of neighboring communities. Other area’s of the township may also attend Avondale, Birmingham or Pontiac Schools. There are several private schools located in the township as well, Including Cranbrook Schools, Brother Rice High School for boys and Marian High school for girls.
Bloomfield Township Lakes
There are two large all sports lakes in Bloomfield Township. Square Lake, which covers 94 acres and is located in the north west portion of the township and Long Lake, which is actually broken up into two separate lakes. Upper Long Lake, which covers 130 acres and to the west Lower Long Lake which covers 190 acres. There are also many smaller and more secluded lakes, including private Turtle Lake. There are a total of 10 lakes in the Township, all on the western side, here are some of the larger ones;

Bloomfield Township Parks and Recreation
When it comes to recreation in Bloomfield, one thing comes to mind. Golf. Bloomfield Township is home to prestigious Oakland Hills County Club, a private club with two 18 hole courses and all the amenities of a major country club. OHCC has hosted many major golf tournaments, including the U.S. Open and the PGA championships. Also located with-in the township, popular Wabeek County Club and Golf Course as well as Forest Lake County Club. Residents who want more walking trails and parks can visit neighboring West Bloomfield Township where they will find several acre’s of nature preserve.
Bloomfield Township Municipal Information
The Bloomfield Township offices are located off Telegraph road at 4200 Telegraph Bloomfield Twp., MI 48303. The township has their own police and fire department with 60 uniformed fire personnel and 70 sworn police officers. The police department is located at the township offices, and the fire department has 4 stations all with Paramedic & Rescue engines. They also manage their own water department.
